In 2019, Minera Centinela requested BRASS to carry out the commissioning and start-up of a new pipeline section as part of a detailed engineering replacement change of the concentrate pipeline between 16 km and 36 km. This project aimed to lift the operational restriction at the SM1 monitoring station due to failures that had occurred in that section.
During the commissioning phase, the operation of the concentrate pipeline was verified using water, while for the start-up phase, the operation was verified using concentrate.
For both the commissioning and start-up phases, the tendencies of the operational conditions of the concentrate transport system were monitored from the control room. Additionally, for the start-up phase, the transported concentrate was characterized through a specific rheology and physical testing campaign, which was conducted in parallel with the system monitoring.
